Daylight Change Crisis

I did not write this but i sure loved reading it in American Thinker.

Something else for Al Gore to worry about (updated)
by Richard Strimple.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but I have detected a new crisis that I have named "the daylight change crisis". I first noticed it sometime around the end of June this year. I started paying attention and created computer models and sure enough I was right! We are losing daylight at an astonishing rate. Each day we are losing approximately 2 minutes of day light and my computer models predict total darkness by next July.

I have been able to detect this phenomenon around the entire Northern Hemisphere. And here is the scary part: the day light appears to be leaking to the Southern Hemisphere.

I thought I should bring it to the attention of great scientists like Al Gore so he can help solve this new crisis.

Update: Important new data reveals that the serious environmental consequences of daylight change have already begun.

Governments Gone Wild!

When it comes to the relationship between our ever expanding government and the people it is supposed to represent, the dynamics can be simply summed up as: The more ‘things’ stay the same (the people), the more things change (the government).

We live in a representative democracy. Which simply means, we the people, vote and empower a selected bunch of mere mortals, to various elected offices who act on our behalf, hopefully in our best interests, so that we can go on living our daily lives until the next election.

Every four years, it’s even more special. We the people really get excited about the prospect of voting in the all important presidential election, So much so, that from coast to coast, a staggering one half of all eligible voters are determined enough to actually get off their couches to show up at their local Vote Aqui polling center and cast their ballot. They are joined also by an ever growing contingent of sprouting ACORN voters: felons, illegal aliens and the dead, who similarly rise to the patriotic occasion and dutifully vote as often as time allows during the ‘early voting’ month leading up to election day.

Election night is really exciting, as across the country we watch the TV pundits pontificate, predict, and declare who won, who lost, and what we can therefore expect in the coming year. Just as during Super-bowl night, or the final game in the World Series, spectator emotions run high. Tears, jeers and cheers are heard. But soon the festivities are over and it’s time to finally turn off the TV and get bed, as tomorrow each one of us have a lot to do.

And so the cycle continues. Our quotidian demands and responsibilities fill up our days and we pay scant attention to our ‘governments’ until the next election. Meanwhile the representatives we elected to act in our stead, shed their pupal campaign suits and molt into full grown legislative termites. With nary a sound, day in and day out, our freedoms are eaten away with robotic regularity, as ‘our’ government imposes mountains of new laws, mandates new spending, and appropriates our hard earned money at will through it’s power of taxation.

So why is government so intrusive? Why are our taxes so high? Why can’t government just leave us alone? Because government is just doing what is was born to do.
Blaming government for it’s actions, is like blaming termites for eating wood.
By design, governments want to govern. And governments unchecked, will spread into every aspect of our lives.

The reality is we have nobody else but ourselves to blame. Each and every one of us is responsible for a government run amok. We can’t expect that showing up at the poles once a year to vote will keep government in check. Just like everything else in life it requires our regular attention. Our bills need to be paid monthly, our pantries need to be filled weekly and our families need our love and attention daily.

My hope for change this new year is that you will join me in being a Big brother or Big sister to a Big government official. Through your active supervision, you can foster a government official and make a difference. Through perseverance and reeducation you can restore the natural pecking order and chain of command. A government of the people, for the people, by the people means, they are the “public servants”, not us.

A poem on taxation

I did not write this. This caught my attention from an anonymous email forward:

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts
Anyway!

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his @@@.

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers,
Then tax him more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

Put these words
upon his tomb,
' Taxes drove me to my doom...'
When he's gone,
Do not relax,
It's time to apply
The inheritance tax.

The Obama convention?

As the thrilling communist hosted Beijing olympics come to a close, all eyes will now focus on the exciting socialist extravaganza about to begin at the oxygen challenged mile high city of Denver known popularly as the "2008 Democratic Convention". The stage is now fully set for the for the world to witness the Democrats, as they rally together and make sure all the votes are counted and recounted for the coronation ceremony of their nominee who could very well turn out to be Hillary after all.

After the Obama-Hillary primary frenzy, suddenly one day Mrs. Clinton just went silent. Hillary's screech has not been heard in weeks. At times one could almost forget that she was ever in the race. Come to think of it, no one can really ever recall her pulling out of it either. But one glorious morning somehow, the sun shined and Obama was anointed the chosen one, even-though the delegate votes have still yet to be cast and counted.

Unfortunately as the summer dragged on, time has not been kind to the new Kenyan-American savior. Despite push polls, a fawning main stream media, and trips to Berlin and France to bless his European constituency, Obama's poll numbers never reached the heavenly heights of the promised land. His media disciples reluctantly started to notice and wonder why he was not further ahead. Things started falling to earth further. To the media's dismay, the downward poll trend continued and showed their new Hope for Humanity tied with his mere mortal contender. Meanwhile the soothing enchanting sounds of song birds filled the summer air as Hillary was quieter than a cat waiting for it's prey.

With barely a week before the actual convention the media managed wean itself from the cool-aid long enough to release the most sobering of polls.

McCain leads Obama by a solid 5 points in this latest Zogby-Reuters poll. "wiping out Obama's solid 7-point advantage in July and taking his first lead in the monthly Reuters/Zogby poll". The poll reveals further another mortal blow, "Obama's support among Democrats fell 9 percentage points this month".

At last pledge, it was Obama 2229.5, Hillary 1896.5. (2111 delegates needed to win nomination) Of course among those are 823 "super delegates" i.e Democrat party professionals who can change their vote with the wind). Among the elite super delegate group are the esteemed former NY Governor, Eliot Spitzer and Detroit mayor/felon Kwame Killpatrick. Hillary just needs 215 of these upstanding super delegates to swoon her way to secure the nomination. Should this happen, Mrs. Clinton's silence these past few months will have given her the perfect innocent bystander alibi. Upon the announcement of the shocking election upset, a bouquet of roses and a silver crown should complete the ceremony as cameras around the world capture Hillary's Miss America moment as she claims what was rightfully hers.

Bill of Rights *void where prohibited.

Our Bill of Rights is the ‘contract with the people’ that our Founding Fathers had the foresight to spell out to protect the rights and freedoms of all citizens, present and future from encroachments from their own governments.

The first sentence in the Bill or Rights restricts Congress and the powers it may exercise over the people. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging freedom of speech; or the right of the people to peacefully assemble...”

It is understood that the First Amendment is uniformly respected across all 50 states. An individual doesn’t have to worry about exercising or restraining free speech when crossing state lines. You can pretty much express yourself or peacefully assemble where ever you are in the United States.

Similarly in all 50 states, no soldier will be quartered in a person’s house with out the owner’s consent. Be it New York City, Washington D.C. or any where else. That’s the Third Amendment, valid from coast to coast including Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico.

There are no geographical or regional exceptions to the protections afforded U.S. citizens by the 4th amendment which guarantees us protection against unreasonable searches and seizures.

As a matter of fact the 5th Amendment, 6th and all others that follow are guaranteed to apply to all citizens equally no matter where one lives, travels or happens to be in the United States.

Ahh, but then lets go back to the 2nd Amendment. That part of the constitution that the Supreme Court recently decreed is still part of the Constitution. The right of the people to keep and bear arms has also been declared to be an individual right, *except of course where currently prohibited. The 2nd Amendment is the solitary Constitutional right of every American that does not apply equally to all Americans nor does it apply equally to all geographic locations. Try crossing state lines with your legal handgun and you could be committing a felony. Even within a State, the 2nd Amendment is often not respected. For instance a New York State resident with a “right to cary permit” (NY granting you permission to exercise a right you are already constitutionally guaranteed)is banned from entering New York City with their gun.

It’s time to stop the selective denial of our Constitutional right to keep and bear arms by State, local governments and even private organizations.

As common citizens, we need to stand up and remember that “governments derive their just powers, only from the consent of the governed” and repel the long train of abuses and usurpations we are voluntarily submitting ourselves to, by our very silence!

While we still have Second Amendment rights, I urge you to speak up and exercise your First Amendment right to denounce this unconstitutional violation to our Bill of Rights.

Carbon Footprints?

Our 4.5 billion year old planet earth’s atmosphere is currently made up of about 79% nitrogen and 20% oxygen and a staggering 0.038% of carbon dioxide (C02). Yes in the last century the amount of C02 has gone up from 0.035% to the astronomically suffocating amount of 0.038% which is almost 4 one hundredths of one percent! And so according to global warming gestapo it is the 3 thousandths of a percent increase in C02 that is turning mother earth in to a convection oven. How else could you explain the fact that when you compare 100 year old thermometer readings to today’s satellite readings, the earth might have warmed by about 1 degree in the last century?

The facts that are being ignored are that water vapor is single handedly responsible for 95% of the ‘greenhouse effect’, without which we would all freeze to death, and the other obvious fact is, that the insignificant levels of C02 could not possibly be responsible for the warming and cooling that has been taking place naturally for the few thousand years we’ve been standing on two feet and the billions of years before that.

But facts be damned. As my father used to say, there is the truth and then there is the Official Truth.

Under the guise of saving the planet and caring for our children, governments at all levels, led by pandering politicians, have quickly realized that waving the green flag is great way to show they really really care, all the while socking it to us with new taxes. The carbon footprint is the government’s very own new lucrative gold rush. In order to fight the evil carbon dioxide, the gas every living creature exhales, including Al Gore, the government now has a moral duty to tax us, to control our lives and do whatever else needs to be done to reduce our Carbon Footprint in the battle to stop the sweltering inferno we are already living in.

The cost of “being green” is all around us. Congress has already banned the incandescent bulb. In 3 1/2 years you will only be allowed to buy the supposed enviro friendly mercury laden compact fluorescents. Cars in 2012 will be forced by our government to average 35 mpg which means you will have to squeeze into a smaller car like it or not. Oil is now over $112/ barrel as new domestic drilling has been banned for years, at every attempt. New oil drilling has been stopped by our Congress, up in Alaska, and off shore. New York State has over 60 cents a gallon taxes plus a 8.75% sales tax on each gallon sold. So the more gasoline prices go up, the more NY State tax gouges us. Some states are now charging higher car registration fees for evil SUVs than for the ”eco friendly” hybrids. Government has been subsidizing 50cents/gallon for ethanol production. Meanwhile corn, a basic food staple, is now being used to make ethanol. And that has pushed up the price of virtually all food, as corn prices have now gone through the roof. California even tried to remotely take control of homeowners individual thermostats.

As new green measures are added weekly and take root, you can bet your already over taxed ranch that you will be the one who will be forced to pay yet a little more.
The question becomes how much longer do we remain silent like passive cattle to slaughter? When will common sense return to the citizenry of this great nation? When will you, the common citizen stand up and remember that “governments derive their just powers, only from the consent of the governed”? When will you stand up for your ever shrinking rights and repel the long train of abuses and usurpations you are voluntarily submitting yourself to by your very silence?

While we still have First Amendment rights, I challenge you to speak up and publicly denounce the global warming hoax. I submit to you, it’s not the Carbon Footprint we should be worried about, it is the ever increasing size of the Government Footprint that will crush us all.

Open Letter to the RNC

I first started donating to the Republican party when Ronald Reagan ran for President. I was in college then at Stony Brook. From the fall of 1977 through 1982. The pathetic can’t do attitude of the Jimmy Carter 70’s was also part of my formative years. The misery index, double digit inflation, the odd-even day gasoline ration lines, Ayatollah Khomeini and the overthrow of the Shah of Iran and of course Walter Cronkite’s nightly news broadcasts where he kept the mounting daily tally of the humiliating 444 days of the Americans being held hostage by Iranian terrorists.

1980 was the first time I was able to vote in a presidential election. Despite the fear mongering media at the time trying to scare us all that Ronald Ray-Gun would start WWIII, somehow their Cool-Aid didn’t affect me. I saw Ronald Reagan as a man of vision, whose principled beliefs in individual freedom and achievement and uniquely American values inspired me to the very core. I believed the Republicans were the party that got it. The party that fought to uphold our freedoms, our Constitution, and the founding principles that made the United States the envy of the world. And I would show my support at the polls and with $25 contributions, even an occasional $100 when I could afford to.

Throughout the years, the RNC, the Republican Congressional Committee and even Republican organizations at the state were all beneficiaries of my modest donations.
It was important to make sure the Republicans had the tools to hold off the insidious encroachment of socialist policies of the Democrat left.

However after a great start with the Contract with America, Republicans began to lose their way. I started to notice that Republicans were often more interested in holding on to power than on operating on principle. Republicans became the party that would reach out with the olive branch and try to befriend the other side. Soon Congressional Republicans were opposing tax cuts, supporting illegal immigration and padding their budgets with pork and even proudly buying into the Global Warming hoax.

So last year, I decided that my donations would stop. I will no longer donate one red cent to the Republicans until they have demonstrated by actions that they are worthy of my after-tax dollars.

The money I used to give to Republicans, now goes to select organizations who have proven to me time and time again, that they have stood up for and will tirelessly continue to fight for their causes. So i donate to the NRA and the Heritage Foundation. The NRA does not sell out, or come up with bipartisan compromises to the 2nd Amendment. The Heritage Foundation dedicates itself to promoting Conservatism.

I’m not leaving the Republican party. You have left me. I’m still here, meanwhile I’ll leave on a Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb you have helped mandate on me, for you to find your way, in case you come back.
